Background

Kelsey Marie Granger-Hall is the only child and daughter of Dawn Granger and Henry โ€˜Hankโ€™ Hall. She took both of her parents last names, mostly because they were unmarried but still belonged to both of them, and her middle name was taken from her maternal grandmother though she never got to meet her.
She was born in Gotham General Hospital, in the later afternoon on December 13th, weighing 7 pounds and 4 ounces.

When Dawn found out she was pregnant, she and Hank had just split, and her immediate thoughts were to try and get rid of the baby.
Hank had had a difficult childhood, and the traumas both parents had suffered left them both damaged and forever scarred.
The mutual grief had brought them together initially, but what hope could the child have with parents like them?

Then, for Dawn, there was the added load of being a single mother. Her own was now dead and Hank was no longer an active participant in her life and could very well not want to play an active role in their babyโ€™s either. She genuinely wasnโ€™t sure if she would be able raise the child all by herself.

Despite those feelings, she knew she wasnโ€™t going to discuss options without talking to Hank first. She didnโ€™t think it would be fair, after all, the baby was half his.

It was a few weeks after she found out when she finally told the former love of her life that he was going to be a father.

Despite her initial misgivings about motherhood, and running the risk of having to raise the baby alone, Dawn made the decision that she would continue with the pregnancy and suggested to Hank that the pair try and raise the child together.
Already excited by the prospect of fatherhood, Hank agreed wholeheartedly, and the couple moved back in together soon after so Hank could support her through the remainder of her pregnancy.

Nine months later, by the time the baby was ready to be born, things in their relationship had drastically improved.
The birth of Kelsey had offered the duo a fresh start, both with each other and, as a chance to do right by their daughter, giving her a safe and loving home neither of them had received growing up.

After bringing Kelsey home from the hospital a day or so after she was born once theyโ€™d finally decided on a name, the two titans decided to stop being โ€˜Hawk and Doveโ€™, no longer comfortable with risking their lives when they had a tiny human to look after and who needed them more.

As an only child, Kelsey was spoiled, especially by Hank. Her father was wrapped around her little finger pretty much since she was a newborn, and though her mother did most of the disciplining and made sure not to let her daughter take anything for granted, Kelsey Marie was close with both of her parents.

The Academy

Growing up, Kelsey showed a great interest in dance, particularly ballet.
At the age of three, her mother started to teach her the basic ballet steps, as there wasnโ€™t a dance school near enough to the city for her to attend.

This continued for a couple of years, and Kelsey fell more in love with the art. When she turned five, Dawn suggested moving to England and sending her daughter to learn ballet properly at the Royal Academy of Dance.

Hank was initially reluctant, both of them short on money and unlikely to afford the flights to England, let all or living there or getting there daughter into the school.
A few years passed, and Kelsey, now at the tender age of eight, was still very much in love ballet, and both of her parents could see that she had clearly inherited her motherโ€™s talent.

Following Dawnโ€™s suggestion three years previous, the pair had been saving for England and had now saved enough to travel overseas. They had also sent in an application for a scholarship for Kelsey and were able to rent an apartment on the outskirts of the city at a reduced rate until they could get jobs locally.

Her scholarship was accepted by the school, with some of the teachers having seen Dawn dance, Kelsey was offered a place as a legacy child.

A Past Life

Travelling back into your own past, however carefully you tread, is never as simple as it seems.
